Our trip to Waco meant we were close enough to town to find a fun place. Thankfully our phones told us about the Bulldog Burger Barn. The reviews were good. We were so amused by the half restaurant and half lawnmower repair - we had to go ask about it after our meal. It is a family owned business with some of the family doing the food side and some doing the repairs. Since my dad is so into lawnmowers (having 16 some odd of them) we had a good old time teasing about how dad should do this. The place had so much character with the signed counter, handwritten menu board and name after the local football team. It was very popular. You want fries with that isn�t even enough questions here. Do you want curly or regular? Cheese? How about tots? We went back a second time so I could try the cheese tots. It was like searching for tots in a sea of cheese. Cheap, good, and fun...that�s our idea of a good time. We�ll be back next time"

Grandpa's Carrots

Thanks Chelle! Journaling: I remember clearly the little twinkle in his blue eyes when he insisted that I pull up the green thing sticking out of the dirt. I saw the camera and my response was a very hesitant - no way! Those were not to be touched or stepped on!! I had been told that a billion times. I think this is one of my earliest memories because I remember thinking it must be a trick. I was scared to say no but it seemed like a test. He finally convinced me that it was ok but didn�t tell me what I would find. I was so surprised to see a carrot come right out of the dirt like that. All the adults had a good laugh. I was truly amazed. Now some 31 years later I am trying to grow my first carrots. While I struggle to keep them alive in this awful Texas heat (it hasn�t rained in 120 days) I think of Grandpa and his beautiful garden and hope some of his skills rubbed off on me.

I�ve always loved it and didn�t realize it�s history until we got back, gotta love the internet for research. We were both a little shy about having our picture taken, but we jumped right in to it. We shared a little smooch too. Ahhhh, happy memories. Such a fun trip to remember when we were just starting to fall in love. LOVE is a sculpture by American artist Robert Indiana. The image was originally designed as a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964, and first exhibited as a sculpture in New York City in 1970. This is the original three dimensional version.
