Got You In Stitches by Wimpychompers Designs
Girl Power (alpha) and Half Moon Bay (bead scatter) by Chelle's Creations In Review: Modern by Sahlin Studio Today Charlotte and I went to Kenmore Middle School to help out with a Girl Scout service project. A local church has been supporting a mission in Haiti even before the big earthquake, and they were planning on returning there to bring materials and supplies to the people there. Among the items they wanted to bring were dolls to give to the girls in an orphanage there, so they enlisted the help of the Girl Scouts to make as many as they could. It was so fun to do this, not only to be helping out people in need, but also to be sewing once again. It didn't matter the skill level because there was a job for everyone. I helped sew together to doll bodies and dresses, while Charlotte helped with a bit of sewing, braiding hair, ironing the finished dresses, drawing the faces, turning and stuffing the bodies, and any other way she could help. At the end of the time we had completed 12 dolls, with many more in different stages of completion. We wished that we could still be there making the dolls, but since the school was closing for the day we needed to leave. But if they are able to plan another date, we will be sure to sign up. As Charlotte said at the end, "Those girls are just going to love these dolls!" And I know that she is right! |
