Journaling reads: Grandma died when I was young so there are no vivid memories of her garden. Instead there are fleeting sensations – a faint smell of mint on her finger tips, the earth blanketing our hands as we plunged them into the sun-warmed soil, the feel of seeds trickling from our fingers as we planted, walking among the flowers in the cool of the day. How much is memory and how much is wistfulness? It’s hard to say, but Grandma’s garden will always be a treasured part of my childhood.
