When the time rolled around for Avery's annual eye exam, I didn't think much about it. The appointment was scheduled a year ago and the magnet with the date reminder had been on the fridge since then. Thankfully, the appointment was after school and I only had to leave work about 30 minutes early to get her there. We arrived and had to wait about 20 minutes during which time Avery tried on just about every pair of glasses in the kids section. We finally get taken back to a room, the tech does a quick exam and then puts the drops in. Avery was not a fan of those drops as you can tell from this picture. I asked if she could smile and she replied, "no, my eyes hurt too bad" and this is what I got. I was thinking the appointment was going just fine, so imagine my surprise when the doctor turns and informs me that Avery needs glasses. She is at the beginning stages of near sightedness, but based on her vision she needs reading glasses. It's something I really can't explain even though he thoroughly explained it to me. I truthfully thought Avery was going to jump out of the chair with excitement!After finishing up the exam, they send us out front to look at frames. Since Avery had already tried on so many, the lady just pulled the pairs that she liked down. After trying them all on, everyone was in agreement that none of them were "the pair." Fortunately, they had LOTS more frames in back and she brought out at least 50 pair for Avery to try on. We honestly spent an hour trying on frames before Avery found two pair that she loved. She finally decided on a pair of adorable black frames with pink and purple accents. Honestly, who ever would have though that there would be so many...
