Walking On Sunshine collab by Jenn Barrette and Tracie Stroud Blocked Out Templates by Purple Tulip Designs After we ate a quick picnic lunch we began our hike into the woods. We figured on hiking about two to three hours total, with a potential climb to the Appalachian Trail if we chose to do so. Since we had has so much snow during the winter and were currently having a wet Spring, the foliage was rich and lush. We hiked around the Snowden Loop before tackling the South Ridge trail. When we reached the point where we could hike that additional .8 miles to the Appalachian Trail, we chose not to since a storm was coming. Instead, we took the Piedmont Overlook Trail where we were treated to an amazing vista of Horse Country. It looked like something straight out of a British BBC production! Photos just couldn't do it justice! The kids took upon themselves to rid the dogs of their tics as we sat there, enjoying the view. Soon it was time to return home, and we got to the car just as it began to rain. It was a wonderful day. |
