No one wants braces, especially as an adult, but I had no choice. My bite was moving forward every year, making my teeth tighter together. The only way to stop it was to get braces, so at the age of 40 I became the brace face of the family. They hurt. They were hard to keep clean, I had to be careful about what I ate. And most of all, I hated having my photo taken because I had to grin too large for my lips to clear the metal, or not at all and have a puffy mouth. But to not have any taken would've been just plain stoopid, if you know what I mean. Because being a brace face was part of my life, like it or not.
