“In May 1988, Grandma Profaizer passed away, Grandpa Pro. remarried Della a year later. As a bratty 16 year old teenager, I was upset by Grandpa’s hasty marriage and was never fully accepting of Della as a replacement Grandma. Bless her heart though, she put up with our ornery Grandpa Pro. for 21 years. A year or so ago, they both started going downhill quickly and had to be put in nursing homes. Grandpa’s dementia is so bad now he doesn’t hardly remember who he was married to. On July 25, 2010 Della finally was able to leave this earth and find peace. I now harbor regrets for not being more accepting. For 3 of my siblings, she was the only grandma they knew. Della was a kind and sweet person. She was very quiet but somehow made Grandpa hear her. We love her for all she put up with for 21 years. We love her for being there and supporting our family in all their events. We love her for loving us.”
