Serenity by Happy Scrap Girl

I don't get there very often, the city where I was raised. Even though it has been in a state of constant change since I moved away in 1982, it's still the same. It's almost like a security blanket in some ways, probably because of the memories that go along with the place. We moved there in 1965, just in time for my 6th birthday and the first day of 1st Grade and stayed until I graduated from high school in 1977, returning twice - once to finish college then again for a job. I've since lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia, but they're still not home to me. So when we are buried in the wintertime snow and cold or sweltering in the buggy heat and humidity of summertime, I think of those beautiful California days that I took for granted back then, and of my family who I miss so dearly, and I smile.
