Kas called me from work to tell me that the Chiropractic Doctors she works fo,r ,have all told her she needs to go to Urgent Care immediately for an MRI of her brain. So, I jump in the car and head to her work to pick her up. In the meantime, my heart is racing and I am freaking out trying to figure out WHY she needs to go to Urgent Care for that. She could hardly talk on the phone and sounded really scared. It was the longest 15 minute drive I have ever had. I finally make it to her work and (I am sure I was speeding,) race upstairs to bring her downstairs to the car and get to Urgent Care. Then, she could finally tell me the whole story: At about 4 am she woke up and her arm and hand felt funny and was a bit shaky. She also had a slight headache, but had had that for a while so didn't think much more of it. She thought she had slept on it weird and that was why, so she dismissed it and went back to sleep. When her alarm went off she got up to get ready for work and her arm and hand were shaking a bit worse now, but she didn't have the money to miss work and she thought she felt fine. Maybe she just needed to get an adjustment. When she got to work her arm was getting really shaky and started to scare her, so she started asking the Dr.'s. about it, Everyone including the doctors were worried that something bad had happened, but no one would give an opinion and none of the doctors' would give Kas an adjustment until she had an MRI. So, that was where we were headed. We showed up at Urgent Care and told them her story. They sent us immediately to the hospital because they felt she would be in the best hands there. That made us both really nervous. Something was up and no one would say what. We walked into the hospital and told the front desk her situation and she got us right back in a room. The nurse came in and did her routine stuff and then the doctor came in, she wanted an MRI and a ton of blood work, wanted an IV started and tested her for a bunch of reflex & nerve testing. The Doctor said Kassi was having "TREMORS" and that could be a sign of a stroke or seizures!!! WHAT....A STROKE at 19 years old!?!? I was terrified, but of course tried to put on the "everything is going to be fine" face because that is what Mommy's do! In my heart and mind I started praying over her and asking God to heal her and that everything would be just fine. It seemed like we had so many people poking and prodding her and then they came to take her back for the MRI. I couldn't go back with her and she would be gone 45 minutes was the next longest 45 minutes of my life. I paced, prayed and cried. All I could do was think about Kassi. A Mothers heart only wants the best for their children and no child should have all this happening to them. Kassi had already been through so much in her life. ..and I started praying again. That was I could really do. After about 5 hours in ER all the test came back and Kassi was fine. The MRI came back that she didn't have any goober's (yes that is what the Doctor called them and it is the technical name for masses in the brain) in her head. She had not had a stroke or any seizures. her blood work all came back fantastic too. Apparently, she had migraines caused from pinched nerves in her neck. When the nerves get constricted enough it pinches and give her the same symptoms that a stroke victim would have. The Doctor said this wasn't the first time she has seen this. Thank you Lord was the first thing out of my mouth!!! Kassi was cleared with the OK to go get an adjustment of her neck in hopes of releasing the tension migraine. Now she knows that when her neck starts getting tight and the headaches come on that she needs to have her neck adjusted! We felt so blessed that everything turned out for the best for our Kassarina. At that point who cares that the MRI was eight thousand dollars, Kassi was going to be just fine!!! |
