The entire time I had to wear them, I didn’t enjoy poising for photos, and it was really rare that I would allow myself to smile for the camera. I was so self-conscious. This is one of the rare photos of the “braces period” where I am actually smiling for the camera. Now that it’s all said and done, I’m glad I got braces so that my teeth are no longer crooked, but I sure wish so many photos didn’t have to be ruined in the process."
