Template - Digi Keepsakes by Monica (Keepsake 17 - Black Friday Grabber); Papers and Elements - Erica Zane and Scrapmuss (Kindred Spirits); Date Stamp - Britt-ish Designs Journaling reads: Christian has a Bionic ear. That’s what we like to call it! He originally had this surgery, a Tympanoplasty (ear drum replacement) when he was 4 and we had exhausted all our options for keeping the infection out of his ears. When the hole in his ear reopened, we didn’t want to do the surgery again, but after a while felt it was necessary and scheduled it. For some reason, we seemed much more concered about risks than we were the first time. Maybe because we tend to be more cautious now? One of the major risks was facial paralysis. When he was in recovery, the first thing he asked me was, “Mom, can I smile?” and gave me a big grin! I laughed, but knew he was completely serious. We were praising God that he came through unscathed. A week later we were back in the ER with infection in the incision. They immediately began treating him with a couple of antibiotics. So far, so good! God is good - all the time! |
