Journaling: Monday, December 22 was a turning point for us. I knew I liked you more than I could truly comprehend, but I had after our brief visit at a coffee shop on State Street 2 days prior, I thought that you did not feel the same way.And there I was at my apartment in need of help and no one to provide it. Then you called. I didn’t want your help, but I knew that if I didn’t take you up on it, my TV would be toast in the below freezing vehicle over night. You were at my apartment shortly afterward and moved my huge TV by yourself - even with your bad back. You stayed for awhile talking with me and all I wanted was for you to leave. But you wouldn’t. I had things to get done -surprises to finish up for my roomies. Since you were so insistant about staying, I finally told you that I needed to get to work. I started painting a chair and was quite focused. You seemed nervous, but I ignored it. Suddenly you blurted out, “Tuttle, I need you to know that I really like you (and a bunch of other sweet stuff neither of us remember).” I didn’t know what to say or how to break the silence that followed, so you asked what I thought about it all, to which I answered, “I dig it.” It’s been 5 years since and still . . .
