March 2010 Hawt Mama Template Text: While living in Belgium, Nana picked up the clock works in Black Forrest, Germany in 1991. She wanted her dad, Keith (Gramps), making the clock. The clock was stored until 2006 when Gramps started working on the case for it. The clock is made of walnut from Marion County, Kentucky. Gramps spent lots of time studying how to build clock stands and getting information about the clock works itself. Apparently, the clock works are the “Cadillac” of clocks. It should last for a VERY long time! Hopefully until you are a great grandmother, and maybe longer! The first go at making the stand was partially successful, but Gramps had to have a second go at the top portion of the clock. After finishing it, there was the task of putting in the glass. Gramps had them all cut and beveled except the upper section of the middle door. That piece was just too difficult to bevel. Since it was made in Kentucky, Gramps and Grams brought it out to Utah in the Spring of 2006 as a birthday gift to Nana. Now the question will always be, who inherits the clock?! Photos May 2006 |
