The journaling reads:
This year's Vacation Bible School was called "Big Apple Adventure" The classrooms were decorated with city scenes, taxies and other things associated with New York. On the very first day of VBS the kids were asked if they had ever been to New York. Both Madalyn and Baleigh raised their hands. They were two of four children who had been to New York before! When the girls went to their classes the other kids and teachers started asking the girls if they had seen the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Twin Towers, etc. Madalyn replied that she had gone to New York City but not to see those things but go to American Girl and the Lego Store which happened to be right next to Rockerfeller's Plaza! Both of the girls amazed their friends when they told of our time living at Fort Drum. Everyone was amazed by the girls stories! Mama was asked if she would help around during the week. It was then that Miss Katie asked if Mama would work in the kitchen. Mama thought it would be easy working in the kitchen, opening Oreo's and other snacks. On the first day of VBS we made over eighty New York Pizzas and for the workers grits were made so they could snack in between classes. During the week we made unique snacks for the children including taxies which were made out of a Hostess Zinger, Oreos for the wheels, M&M's for the head lights complete with a Tootsie Roll! Mama and the other ladies were busy in the kitchen, but not a day went by that the kids weren't amazed by their Special snacks that were made with love!
