We went to Mackinac Island to witness
Caleb and Tara's wedding. The girls
were flower girls and Josh was the
best man in the wedding. It was to be
a small wedding with immediate family
and friends. We arrived early to the
island since the girls had never been
to the island before. The first day we toured the island as much as we could with what time we had
available. The following day, Papa took the time to show the girls the island. We explored parts of
the island that we hadn't explored the day before. One of the neatest things we saw was the beach.
Papa had told the girls that on July 4th they always had a Rock Skipping Contest. He asked the girls
if they knew how to skip rocks and proceeded to show them the art of skipping rocks. It was neat to
see the girls excitement of learning how to skip rocks as well as see the boats bringing visitors to
the island. Everyone had a lot of fun on the rocky beach especially Baleigh who in spite of the posted
sign saying 'no swimming' took her shoes and socks off, slowly walking in to the water! Of course
we all stood there, shocked that she was going in the freezing water. Baleigh on the other hand
had a blast playing in the water, trying to pick up the large boulders just feet from the shore
Lucky for us, no one came to yell at us for Baleigh in the water. It was such a fun and special
time with Papa John before the other family members came to the island.
