Journaling: We knew we didn’t want to be at Disney after Memorial Day, so it turned into almost a race to get to Florida after the little girls graduated. The Sunday after, we said goodbye to the grandparents, packed up the car, and picked up other Laura. I was quite impressed at how well everything fit into the car. I sat in the middle most of the time, and the little girls traded off in the back. Theoretically, Diana and I could have done some of the driving, but some parts of the trip there are just terrible and Daddy won’t let us drive there. We made pretty good time – no real traffic; the only delays were my bathroom breaks. There was an incident on the trip up, though. In a parking lot heading in to lunch, I managed to trip over the curb and scrape my knee open. It made the rest of the trip interesting, since I was left dealing with a minor injury that complicates walking. The rest of the ride up was pretty uneventful; we made it to Florida Monday afternoon, having spent the night in Pensacola. It was nice having the car around during the week, especially for the nights when we had character dinners at other resorts. It also let us get to Harry Potter (an absolute necessity), church (another necessity), and Winter Park (a nice diversion, but not a necessity especially since good restaurants were scarce there. |
