I will always remember the day I received the call that Mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer. I had just moved back to Wisconsin and I felt so helpless. I couldn't give blood. I couldn't be there to give her a hug or hold her hand, to stand by her and physically give her support. So I did the best thing I could even think of doing - I began to pray to God to be with her, to protect her through this new journey in her life. And He did. After a lumpectomy and radiation treatments she beat the disease and has been cancer free for almost 22 years. And what a blessing that has been for us all. Mom, you inspire me.
