This is my first "My Story Matters". I am really excited about this project and am going to try to get caught up before the next one comes out.

Journaling says:
My memories of school are completely intertwined with memories of my mother. She taught kindergarten at the elementary school that I attended. She was extremely good at her job and everyone loved her. I knew all the teachers & staff at the school because of her. I loved them~ they were my second family. I loved elementary school. It was easy, and fun. I can remember my excitement of the new school year. I loved going shopping for a new outfit, a new backpack and new supplies. My favorite were the crayons. I love the smell of new crayons. And the perfect points that you only had at the beginning of the year! I always loved picture day at the beginning of the year. When everyone wore their favorite outfit and spent lots of time on their hair. One year my mom had my hair cut and styled the day before pictures. I can remember going to sleep, hoping that the darling new hair-do would hold out! Lucky me, it did. And you can tell from the picture that I was thrilled! I always went to school with my mom very early in the morning. She had to get there to prepare for the day. I ate my breakfast in her classroom most mornings. I would play on the computer and even watch filmstrips on the little projector. She had a loft in her classroom and I would lay up there and read. I loved that loft. I can remember some days just wishing that I could stay up there all day, reading and listening to the sounds of the kindergarteners doing their work and having a good time together. It was a comforting place, my mother’s classroom.
I feel so lucky that my mom was always right there for me when I was going to elementary school~ even when I threw my retainer away in the cafeteria and she had to dig through the trash!
