One of my ds's many surgeries-this one the most significant
Journaling Reads: At almost two years of age, Nathan weighed less than 20 lbs. He no longer could tolerate feeds directly into his belly due to severe reflux. We decided it was best to proceed with Nissen Fundoplication surgery - a procedure that wraps the base of the esophogus around the top of the stomach-to prevent acid from refluxing back. The surgery was performed at Egleston Children’s Healthcare in Atlanta by Dr. Mark Wulkan. The surgery was a major success. Nathan went from being classified as Failure to Thrive and severely irritable to a calm and cool boy. He gained 20 lbs within the next year Of Nathan’s many surgeries, this was the most life-changing for our entire family.
