Paper, glitter, moon, hill and bat from A Halloween Nightmare by Britt-ish Designs
Spooky word art, tree shape, and ribbons from Jeepers Creepers by Jeni Hopewell Journaling: When I was a kid, my parents tried all sorts of things to keep my brother, sister and I awake on a car ride. One of those things was looking for the spooky old tree. This tradition worked really well around Halloween. Spooky old trees could not have any leaves on them. They had to have gnarly branches, and they had to be located on a deserted back road. There were a few trees around our house that met all of these qualifications, and my mom knew where they all were. When we would drive by the spooky old tree, all of us kids would duck so the witches wouldn't swoosh down and pick us up. Then my mom would let out her very loud and very authentic witch cackle. I remember loving when we would drive by the spooky old tree, but looking back it seems like such a small thing. When I talked to my mom about the details of the spooky old tree, she laughed because there was nothing to it. She picked out a few trees and tried to come up with a way to use them to keep us awake! |
