After swimming and enjoying the cook out, we gave each of the kids leis, balloons and star spangled "batons" so they could parade around the yard. Bowman even joined in on the fun (minus the lei and baton). However, Bowman's balloon came off the string and floated away so he bowed out after a few minutes. This left Avery, Aunt Jane, Ashlynn, Stephanie, and Annabelle. A few minutes later, Avery's balloon slipped out of her hands and floated away too! Note to self...when purchasing balloons from Dollar Tree, always check them thoroughly before handing out to the kids!
