My mom and I especially argued a good bit, partly due to the fact that we’re very much alike in that we have strong opinions and tend to think it’s our way or no way. One day, my mom suggested that just the two of us take a trip together. She thought it would give us some time to talk and bond like we hadn’t done in a while. One place I’d always wanted to go
was the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. So, we set out on our trip one Saturday morning. We didn’t really have a concrete plan; rather we decided to go with the flow. Having that day with my mom is a time that I will never forget. Away from all the pressures of being a teenager, I really felt as though I could connect with her again. We spent the time talking, laughing, and having an overall great day together. I really needed that time with my mom, and somehow she knew that. Funny how that happens!"
