Journaling:
While sitting in the den after chatting with Avery about the new church we visited, she leans over to Wes. He immediately flinches in retreat.

Avery: Can't I just love you, Daddy?
Wes: Of course, but I thought you were going to attack me.
Avery: Now why would I do that?

She proceeds to lean into Wes and gently gives him a hug and kiss. And then it begins - the tickling, the giggles. Avery turns to me with the most glorious face and immediately the momentum shifts - control is turned over to Wes and he takes her down.
