Journaling says:
We live in a pretty quiet neighborhood here in Roseville. Most of our neighbors are elderly and the original owners of their homes. But on this day, we got some excitement. We were watching the Olympics on TV and could hear sirens in the distance. Then they got closer. All of a sudden we heard screeching
and a big BOOM. It sounded and felt like an explosion. We looked out the window to see a car had crashed right into our retaining wall in our front yard and cops were approaching the car with their guns drawn. We later found out that the kids in the car had stolen a TV from Target and someone spotted them and called the police. When the cops found them driving on the freeway, the high speed chase was on. They exited the
freeway and decided to use our neighborhood as a short cut. It didn’t workout so well. They were going too fast for the corner and slammed into our retaining wall. Two of the girls in the car were arrested but one guy got away on foot. They’re still looking for him. But they’ll catch him. We’ve got a great police department. Tim & the girls hung around outside with the cops and firefighters to watch all the excitement. I stayed inside. The kids were off school that day for President’s Day and we took advantage of our lazy day. At the time of the crash, I was still in my pajamas and glasses. We saw news reporters hanging around but I figured Tim would answer any questions they had since he had spent so much time outside. Well, as luck would have it, Tim had left to go pick up the boys from their sports practices at school and it was at that time they decided to knock on our door for an interview. So I was on the news that night... in my pajamas and my glasses. Not exactly the best way to spend my 15 minutes of fame. But what a day and what a memory. The day we had a little excitement on Darling Way.
