Down on the Farm by Haynay Designs
Sew Dated by Haynay Designs Alpha from Thoroughly Amused by Haynay Designs and Plum Dumpling Designs Font is Century Gothic ADSR Challenge 5.3 Journaling reads (watch out, it's long!): This was probably one of the scariest things that has ever happened to us at the farm. We had been in the back petting Flash and were on our way back to the house through the sheep pen. Téa and Mari wanted to pet the sheep. Usually the sheep won’t let anyone near them, but we had just figured out that sometimes the old ram would let you come close and pet him. So we walked over and he stood there nicely while we petted his head. The girls were excited to finally get to pet a sheep. But everything changed quickly. Not 20 seconds after Keith took the picture of us petting the ram, he charged Téa and knocked her flat on her back. Keith was a little further away but still had the camera out and started taking pictures. Téa was crying, Mari backed away, and I quickly lifted Téa up off the ground. I put her between me and Mari and turned to call Keith (I didn’t know he was there taking pictures). As I was yelling for him to come help me, the ram came around me to knock Téa over again. This time he hit her so hard she fell backwards into Mari, knocking them both to the ground. When Keith saw this, he came running and chased the ram away, then went back to picture taking as the girls and I quickly left the pen (oh and I was holding Noah the whole time this was happening). We were all shaken. Téa and Mari were hysterical, I was mad at Keith for taking pictures instead of helping me the first time, Keith was mad at me for not walking away right after the first knockdown. It was horrible. But after we calmed down a little, we realized how proud we were of Téa. She didn’t go down without a fight - look at her kicking that ram while she’s on the ground. She’s a fighter! I don’t think we’ll ever go near that ram or even in the sheep pen again without Keith close by (he even tried to butt Keith a week later) and Keith & I have definitely become more aware and more cautious with letting the girls run around the farm without us. But we are so proud of Téa and how she thought quickly and did everything she could to fight back & not let that ram get her again. And look at how all the other sheep are totally watching the whole scene play out - so weird. |
