This is what my daughter likes to do on weekends. She works on elaborate costumes for months and then attends an anime convention to show off her work. Everything you see was handmade by her. She designed, cut out the pattern and sewed the dress. She made the armor, crown, and belt out of a moldable plastic then painted in with gold paint. She drew out the pattern for the apron type thing then drew on the design and painted it. She also hand painted the design on her gloves. I am very proud of both her imagination and her determination to do well on these costumes.
