Journaling: For as long as I can remember, every year for Thanksgiving, we make “Mom’s Rolls.” From my mother’s recollection, the recipe came from my Grandfather’s mother, Hallie Howell, so this is a recipe that has been handed down in my family for a few generations now. I bake them with my mother, who used to bake them with her mother every year. Mom always has these very touching conversations with Grandma Grace, who passed away before I was old enough to have memories of cooking in the kitchen with her. I know one day (hopefully a long, LONG time from now), I’ll have such conversations with my mother while baking Mom’s Rolls for Thanksgiving. It takes a lot of time and effort to make them, but it’s well worth it. The time I get to spend with my mom and the sheer enjoyment of baking them and knowing I’m continuing something my Grandmothers began makes it one of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions…and one of the most delicious parts of dinner.
