Journaling: Who would've thought that by this time in my life I'd be doing what I'm doing. A digi-scrapping SAHM, that is. I take my camera everywhere - sometimes even two of them. I don't want to miss documenting any part of my children's lives. I want them to remember what they've experienced in life, so I document it all. Whoda thunk that after working as a professional photographer I'd give it all up just to get my MAT in Art Education, only to give that up before I taught a day of school. Why? Because I realized that I hated school of any sort. So here I am, a wife and mom of two kids and I can never have enough photos to scrap with. I need to tell their stories. Stories of life and family. I need that creative outlet. In a way I miss those days of being sent out on photo shoots, even though I totally hated it then. I also miss being in the darkroom, developing film and photographs and the anticipation that goes along with it, the smell of the chemicals and the feel of the film and paper in my hands. None of this instant gratification that digital photography brings. I miss the hands-on manipulation of the materials. So I adapt. Adapt to grabbing digi-snapshots of life rather than searching for the ever-elusive perfect photograph.
