What Matters Monday - Dates!

February 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Today’s what Matter’s Monday is about a detail that matters! DATES!!  Do you date every page you scrap?  Do you forget sometimes?  Well I propose that you need to date EVERY page.  I’m not saying the date needs to be the focus, or even draw the eye at all.  But you CAN sneak it in there.  And 25 years from now you’ll be very glad you did!!

Even if you page is one of a series, or you think its pretty obvious what the date is like Christmas or something.  I think you should still date it.  It will make it so easy to remember what year it was or if you page gets out of sequence with the others you will still have the date on it.  Your digital photos should all be date stamped in the file information so figuring out the dates of your recent photos is a snap!

There are lots of fun and creative ways to date your pages!  Sometimes I sneak mine in on paper strips or onto a label.

Or just sneak them into the corner like Marci did here.

I do this a lot too!

There are creative date tags and stamps you can use.

Sneak it onto the design in a creative way!  I love how Happy Scrap Girl put the date in the curve of the circle.  So creative.  And now so easy to know exactly when this cute photo was taken, and when this memory was made.

If an actual date doesn’t seem appropriate for the look of your page, at least put the year.  This page by Heather rocks.  “Winter ’08” is a great way to date these pics.

Can you even see where Teresa sneaked in her date in the LO below?!   It’s pretty creative and TOTALLY sneaky!!

It’s on the ship’s wheel! See the little “’08”?

Bottom line, dating your pages can be fun and creative!  Or it can be as simple as slipping the date into a corner or onto a label or even into the journaling.

Dates are just little details that “MATTER”.  You’ll be really glad you “dated” looking back from down the road!  Just something to keep in mind as you scrap.

Have a great Monday!!

xoxo,

Great Article - I know that sometimes I think I can get away with out dating and a few months later I can’t remember which one of my kids the picture is of (they look a lot alike :-)

So, now I make sure that each LO has a date before I print it - even if I don’t show that info on my pages in my galleries.

Thanks for mentioning my LO, and showing those other great pages for inspiration on “dating”.

I totally agree–looking back 10 or even 2o years at pictures of our family it is hard to always know when we took that picture. Dating your LO is a little thing that will save you lots of time and frustration in the future!
