“Do-Over” Challenge Winners

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Shari here…Once again we had a gazillion (okay maybe not that many but I love the sound of that word) wonderful entries for last weeks Tuesday Challenge and once again I have to force myself to pick some winners. In my book everyone is a winner but for the sake of the rules of the challenge I had to narrow it down.  Thanks to my very helpful 13 year old son the winner of our random drawing is Ellan. If you haven’t checked out the photo technique she used for her LO you must take a look at it. Her whole “do-over” was wonderful.  My personal favorite and our second winner is Scrappin5kids “do-over” of her sons. I really like her entry because it showed so much improvement. She went from using a template, very few embellishments and no shadows to a wonderful two page piece of art that she totally designed on her own. I love the little scraps of paper she stitched behind the photos and look at all those wonderful shadows. Super job Scrappin5kids. And a great big thank you to all of our participants.  You can check out all the great “do-overs” in the forum at ScrapMatters. Now let’s get on with the next fun challenge hosted by Katie.

Favorite Family Recipes–Scrap Yours and Win

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Hello…this is Katie and I’ll be hosting your challenge this week. I hope you will enjoy this challenge as much as I did.

Today my challenge for you is to scrap a favorite family recipe. I think in each of our families, we have those tried and true fall-back dinners that are just great. For my family it’s tacos. When I make them just right, I could eat them for a week. Unfortunately we never have that many leftovers. Anyway, back to the challenge. I remember very few favorite family dinners we had growing up. I don’t know if we didn’t have any, or if I’ve just forgotten them over the years. I don’t want to forget that for now, our favorite dinner is tacos, or that my oldest son always asks for them. When my son is an adult and gets married, I want him to be able to easily find this recipe should it still be a favorite.

If you have an *heirloom* recipe that has been passed down through generations–scrap that. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful memory to scrap? I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge, I can see myself scrapping a whole recipe book with just my family favorites. Wouldn’t that be fun treasure to hand down through the generations? So there you have it…go dig through your recipe box or call your grandma on the phone and get a recipe and scrap about it. The only requirement is that you have to include your recipe on your page. (But a picture would be nice, too!) Here is my example:

There will be 2 winners. Each will win a $5 Gift Certificate to ScrapMatters. One will be my favorite lo and one will be chosen at random. All entries must be in before midnight on Monday, March 10. Post the gallery links to your entries here in the forum.

Here are some fabulous examples from our talented CT.

Zakirah made this yummy page. The pictures look great and I can imagine my husband would die for this recipe…

This is a page Lindsay submitted which includes a recipe for her mother’s wedding cake. It’s a copy of the actual recipe. And I love the heritage photos.

Sarah (My3Hens) did the following LO–Easy Oatmeal=Easy Breakfast…and it is much cheaper too.

In this one, Lindsay included the web site addy.

A lot of different styles, and they all work. Hope you’ll share your favorite recipes with us. Sometime it can be hard to read the “web” versions of a recipe so we invite you to share your LOs and your recipes here in the forum.
