Sunday Spotlight 7/6/08 – Meet “sahlink” aka Krista
Sunday, July 6th, 2008
Krista (norton94) here to introduce you to another Krista (sahlink). Here she is:)

I was intrigued to meet another Krista who even spelled her name the same. LOL… Actually her layouts struck me first, but then when I learned her name, I HAD to pick her for a spotlight so that I could actually get to know her a bit.
What I was most astounded to learn was that she has only been digitally scrapping since MAY ’08! {Hello? Did she not have a learning curve? I mean I look at my early layouts and cringe. And I had been paper scrapping for years.} I can only imagine what the digital scrapbooking community has in store for Krista if this is what she can do in her first 2 months! Would you know, she has at least 68 layouts in her gallery…? Anyhow, I am pleased to know her better and share her talented work with all of you.
Here are some of my favorite examples of her work, but please go browse for yourself. I had a really difficult time choosing my favorites - images are clickable to the credits and her gallery.
That was for a Speed Scrap!
I love the extraction and fun colors here! It just leads your eye to the journaling so well!
What a great photo and journaling…great eye for those embellishments too.
So off we go to the interview:
What is your main job/career?
I am very fortunate to be a SAHM. I do work an evening a week for a little extra, as a office supervisor.
Are you married/kids/pets?
I am married to my best friend and wonderful husband, Aaron (we just celebrated our 8th Anniversary) I have two beautiful children, Sophia (6) and Gabe (4). And, one dog, Leinie or Leinienkugel. Yes, she is named after the beer. Everyone in my family has a tradition of naming their dogs after beer. <grin> Too funny.
Where do you call home?
Rochester, MN
What are your three favorite foods?
Godiva chocolates, Starbucks coffee & Mashed potatoes and gravy.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Moose Tracks from Kwik Trip, I have my kids hooked now too.
Do you prefer salty or sweet snacks?
Hmmm…both? Odd thing is I usually have to end on salty. If I finish a bowl of ice cream, I just have to have one more chip afterwards.
What is your favorite beverage?
Fountain pop, not canned or bottled. Strange I know… but the fizzier the better. I like it to give me tears.
What is your least favorite food?
Bratwurst, I will eat them but prefer not to.
PC or Mac?
PC
How long have you been digi-scrapping/How did you get into it?
I wanted to digitally scrapbook for the last couple years, but I was SO overwhelmed with Photoshop. Then I jumped in and just started scrapping on NSD day this year, here at ScrapMatters. I have learned so much, from so many here. And you know what, it makes me feel like I’ve really accomplished something.
What program do you use to digi-scrap with?
Photoshop CS2
Do you snack while scrapping?
No snacks, but on occasion I do eat breakfast or lunch here at the computer. Dedication, I know. <grin>
Describe your scrapping environment. (music? time of day? messy/neat etc)
I have a great set up, my office is on the main floor looking into our playroom. So I scrap right away in the morning (while watching the kids play), then usually I pick back up when the kids go to bed and wheedle the night away. I do like to have soothing music on, but usually at night my hubby is working on his computer with the TV on (which is in our office) and nothing annoys me more than TV background noise while scrapping. But, I love my hubby enough to overlook his TV watching/work habit.
What is the most challenging part of scrapbooking for you?
Placement, sometimes I moves pictures and things around so much… I have to start all over from the beginning.
What are your hobbies besides digi-scrapping?
Gardening, I love gardening! I have huge cottage type garden all around my house. It is so nice to be able to relax it there too, while watching the kids on their playground. Another obsession (other than scrapping, I mean) is sewing. My kids LOVE when I make them things to wear!!
What would you like to learn to do (or do better) not related to scrapbooking?
Be more patient with my children and realizing that sometimes the small things really don’t matter. I think I pray about this every day…
What are your favorite books/authors?
I didn’t think I’ve told to another living soul other than my SIL (cause she reads them too), but, romance novels. Come on, they are fast reads and usually I don’t have much time. Oh, and I LOVE self-help books, parenting, organizing, cooking.
What are your favorite movies?
Fools Rush In, Under the Tuscan Sun
Is there any “can’t miss” TV shows to you?
We have DVR and it is so nice. I watch Grey’s Anatomy, Men in Trees and a few reality shows, Tori and Dean. I am a HGTV fan.
What is your favorite layout in YOUR gallery?
I created this after seeing a layout the Britt did with numerous photos. I was so used to paper scrapping and how difficult it is to fit numerous picture on ONE page. And I did it… I have learned that you don’t always need the 2 pages to feel the story you are telling.
Do you have a favorite non-scrapping website?
the DISboard – we are taking our very first family vacation to Disney World in January and I am SO super stoked to go! I can’t wait to just experience that with my family.
What is your favorite ScrapMatters kit?
No way, how can I choose just one? If I HAVE to, I suppose it would be Britt’s Dreams Do Come True. I find that I am using this kit or something from the kit on almost every layout.
Where do you find inspiration?
Hmm… in my sleep? If I can remember the next day that’s great. But I do wake up with good ideas to scrap or something funny one of the kids said. But most of all I would have to say, all of you. The galleries are always a great place to find inspiration for a technique or layout.
Well, thanks for joining me! Have a great week!
