Sunday Spotlight 7/13/08 – Meet “Krisser12″ aka Kristie

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

I was so excited to be able to do the Sunday Spotlight this week and I knew exactly who I wanted to spotlight.  Our very talented designer Kristie who uses the designer name Suzie Belle Designs.  I have known Kristie for a few years but have gotten to know her so much better through her beautiful layouts in her gallery and her gorgeous kits in the shop.  She has a real talent for designing and I love her simplistic style of scrap booking.  She truly keeps the focus on her photos and journaling and I love that.  Let’s get to know Kristie a little better shall we?

What is your main job? Changing diapers and chasing my delightful children

Are you married/kids/pets? I’ve been married to my wonderful dh for just over 7 years. We have three kids- 6, 4, and 11 months. We don’t currently have any pets, but we’ll be getting some rabbits and chickens soon.

Where do you call home? I’m currently living in the gorgeous pacific northwest, but I think Boise, ID will always be my home- that’s where I grew up!

What are your three favorite foods? Anything Thai, especially Thom Yum and Yam Woon Sen, fresh crab, and goat cheese

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Vanilla with fresh berries- yum!

Do you prefer salty or sweet snacks? It totally depends on my mood, but sadly it’s usually sweet

What is your favorite beverage? Ginger-ale

What is your least favorite food? Water Chestnuts

PC or Mac? PC

How long have you been digi-scrapping and how did you get started? I started right before Halloween of 2007- my wonderful friend Andrea (owner of ScrapMatters.com) got me interested, and it was love at first sight!

What program do you use to digi-scrap/design with? Adobe Photoshop CS2

How long have you been designing and how did you get started? I’ve been designing digital scrapbook kits and elements only since March, but I’ve been doing graphic and website design since college (6 years ago).

What is the most challenging part of designing for you? I always get the papers done first and absolutely love that part- the elements are way harder for me and come last.

What are your hobbies besides digi-scrapping? Playing the guitar, volleyball, sewing, cooking, anything crafty.

What would you like to learn to do (or do better) not related to scrapbooking? Oh man… this’s going to be a really long list, I better just list some of the top ones: I’d love to get better at making my own Thai food, better at interior design, speak Spanish more fluently, learn to enjoy running more, and learn how to knit both faster and more complicated patterns.

What are your favorite books/authors? My all-time favorite author is Jane Austen- I love every one of her works, but Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion are my very favorites. Jane Eyre, Rebecca, and many more classics are also on my list. For some fluff reading I love the Twilight series (of course- go Team Edward!), and anything by Shannon Hale.

What are your favorite movies? I love most British Romantic Comedies (About a Boy, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Love Actually, The Holiday) and geeky teen movies (Mean Girls, Can’t Hardly Wait, Center Stage, Ten Things I Hate About You). Recent movies I’ve really loved have been Juno, Lars and the Real Girl, Be Kind, Rewind.

What is your favorite quote?

Funny: My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint. ~ Erma Bombeck “

Serious: “When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives”. -Ezra T. Beson

What is one of your recent goals? Lose weight (who doesn’t have that one on their list!), spend more time with my kids doing what THEY love, be a more charitable person.

When I asked Kristie so share some of her favorite LO’s that she has created these are the one’s she chose.

These are all so wonderful.  Kristie has a real eye for design.

I went through and picked out a few of my favorites too…

I just love the simplicity of this. I love how she stitched the papers together and included them in the framed area with the photo.

Kristie does these amazing journal pages of her children’s thoughts, sayings and ideals. They are the sweetest thing. I love the photos she always captures too.

Maybe it’s because I know this adorable kid but this LO has always been one of my favorites. The photos capture K’s personality so well. This one just makes me smile.

Another thing about Kristie is she is the 2 page LO queen. Most of her LO’s are a double page design and she is so good at making them flow. You really should check out her gallery here.

Then you need to take a peek at her very artistic, stunning designs in the shop.

I hope you have enjoyed getting to know Kristie a little better.  She is an amazing artist and a wonderful friend.

Have a great Sunday.

Shari
