Last Minute Hybrid and Printable Treats for Your Sweetie!
Thursday, February 12th, 2009
Hello, and Happy Thursday! Tgmousechick Kim back again, this week with some last minute ideas for your valentine!
To kick things off, I thought I would highlight a great find at the Dollar Spot at Target. Aren’t these little mailboxes cute? I went a little crazy and bought a bunch of them! Fortunately, they are pretty simple to decorate. I printed off two to three strips of paper: 1 13”x4” and 1-2 4” x 6.5”. The long strip got wrapped around the body of the box, and I used the lid as a template to create the cover pieces.

My adhesive of choice for metal projects is Tacky Tape by Provo Craft. Once you stick that down, it’s not moving!!!
For starters, I made mailboxes for my children, using Haynay’s Angel Baby Boy and Girl kits:

It only took making two before I was completely hooked, so I had to make several more for my gal pals at work…

The kinds of goodies you can pack into these little boxes are endless- bite-sized candies, a small plush toy, a gift card, stickers! The mailbox can actually hold quite a bit of candy, so if you want to avoid sugar-shock, you can add some paper stuffing to fill the space. In fact, you can use your paper scraps to make perfectly coordinating stuffing! Hurry! Run to Target before they’re gone!!
For my next project, I went back to my days as consultant for Close To My Heart, and made an array of treat bags. My little twist on this project? I adhere there topper to the “bottom” (the sealed end) of the bag, allowing the recipient to get to the goodies without tearing through your work!

I made my toppers 3.5”x4”, resulting in a canvas 3.5”x 2”. These fit the small 3”x5” ziploc bags, which I typically find in the beading section of the crafts store.
I hope this inspires you to run out and make a little something special for your valentine. A gift doesn’t have to be extravagant to grab them- it just needs to come from your heart!
