This week’s Spotlight is Shantell (shanscraps)
1. Your screen name? Your real name? shanscraps, Shantell Vidoni.
2. What is your main job/career? I’m a full time mom to one BUSY 18 mo. old boy and I work part-time cleaning.
3. Are you married/children/pets? I’ve been married for almost 4 years to my wonderful and amazing husband Jared. We have one little boy named Ethan who is the subject of almost all of my LOs.
4. Where is home for you? We are currently living in Orem, UT
5. What are your 3 favorite foods? This is hard cuz I like just about everything…I’d have to say anything with chocolate, homemade bread, and fresh from the garden tomatoes. I LOVE tomato and cheese sandwiches
6. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Burnt Almond Fudge
7. Snacks…Salty or Sweet? Sweet for sure!
8. Beverage of choice? Diet Dr. Pepper
9. What’s your least favorite food? Spinach
10. PC or Mac? What program do you use? PC & PCS3
10a.What kind of camera(s) do you use? Sony Cyber-shot. It’s not great but it gets the job done.
10b.Would you like to have a different camera? Yes! And I love to take some photography classes.
11. How long have you been digi-scrapping? How did you get started? I’ve been digi-scrapping for about 2 years. Britt of Britt-ish Designs is a good friend of mine in real life. She taught me how to use PS and how to use templates. I’ve been hooked ever since. I RARELY paper scrap.
12. What was your 1st LO about? Well my first LO was about a trip to the Zoo with my in-laws but I never really finished that LO. My first completed LO is my engagement pictures.
13. Do you have any other hobbies besides digi-scrapping (are there other hobbies)? I’d have to say cooking and baking. I have recently started making homemade bread and my family loves it. I no long buy bread at the store.
14. What is the most challenging part of scrapbooking for you? Not using a template. I love templates and it’s part of the reason I love digi-scrapping.
15. What would you like to learn to do (or do better) not related to scrapbooking? How to decorate. I feel like my home is so boring and really needs a professional decorator.
16. What are your favorite movies/TV shows? All time favorite movie is Singing in the Rain (I love Gene Kelly!) Right now I’m a big fan of Bones. I’ve always loved murder mystery and this show is that plus more.
17. Describe your “scrapping” environment. Music? TV in the background? Drinks? Snacks? Where? Our computer is in the back bedroom and it’s too slow to run my itunes and PS so I just scrap with the background noise of whatever else is going on in my house.
18. If you only had 2 elements to use on a LO, what would they be? Ribbon & a button.
19. Would you like to share a little known fact about you…? I have never broken a bone in my body and I’ve never had stitches.
20. Can you tell us a little about your scrappin’ style? I would say my style is simple.
21. Favorite LOs that you have done? This was so hard to choose cuz I reall love all of my LOs. But here are my top 3.
22. Where do you get your inspiration/motivation? I think I get most of my inspiration from the kits. I tend to stay in only one kit when I’m working on a LO. I’d also so that templates give me inspiration. They help me see the whole picture and then I’m able to add and subtract as I go.
23. Do you have any suggestions for kits you’d like to see in the SM store? Umm maybe more boy kits.
23a. How many of your LO’s have you printed? I’ve got 51 printed. Wow! That’s a lot. I didn’t ever realize it was that many. But I’ve got about that many that need to be printed.
23b. Which do you think is better: making LO’s into a book & having that printed or printing LO’s individually? Oh this is a hard one. I printed my wedding LOs into a book and I love it but all of my other LOs I’ve printed at Costco and love them too. I think having them printed out individually is better only because once I put them into a page protector I feel like they are more durable. My son loves to look through his book and I’m not worried about him ruining the pages. Plus I can always add more pages as time goes by. With a book it’s a one time deal.
24. What is your favorite part of being a member of the ScrapMatters Girls? Being the SMG leader I get the joy of spreading love and telling the LOTW winner that she’s won! It’s so fun to see how surprised the winner gets. It’s my favorite part of the SMG.
Thanks Shantell for letting us get to know you better. You can check out her gallery HERE!
