My layout was chosen Layout of the Week at ScrapMatters

My layout was chosen Layout of the Week at ScrapMatters

I’ll be back to post this week’s LOTW…stay tuned :)

1.   Your screen name? Your real name?

My screen name is usually neeceebee, but I also go by Denise Beatty.

2.   What is your main job/career?

I am a stay at home mom.

3.   Are you married/children/pets?
I have been married for 14 wonderful years and we have six children. No pets. Just kids. ; )

4.   Where is home for you?
I currently live in Virginia.

5.   What type of camera do you have?
I have a Nikon D90, and I adore it!

6.  What is your favorite color, and do you tend to use it on your layouts?

My favorite colors are red and orange…and I use it when I can.

7.   If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
My dream trip right now is Hawaii. I have never been and I have always wanted to. I LOVE the beach!

8.   What is your favorite childhood memory, and have you scrapped it.

Wow. This is hard. I have hardly scrapped anything from my childhood…I have loads of photos to scan. But, my favorite childhood memory is probably playing games with my parents. They worked a lot, so family time was precious, and we would take trips and play cards. I really enjoyed those times together.

9.   What is your favorite activity to do with your family?
I love to active things with the kids…bowling, bike riding, anything outside and together.

10.  PC or Mac? What program do you use?
I am a PC girl and I use Photoshop Elements 7.

11.  How long have you been digi-scrapping? How did you get started?
I have been digi scrapping since February 2008. I had been a paper scrapper for YEARS! But it was just too hard to do with the kids. Then, I tried a digi layout and I hated it! But, tried again and found that as I improved, I really loved it and I can never imagine going back!

12.  What was your 1st LO about?
eek. My first layout. I don’t even think I have a copy anymore. I scrapped about one of my daughters dumping two brand new bottles of baby powder on the ground. Oh! It was awful (the mess I mean….well, probably my layout too!) Doesn’t everyone look back on their old layouts and appreciate how much they have grown as a scrapper?

This is not the original layout, but these are the photos from that very first digi layout.

13.  Do you have any other hobbies besides digi-scrapping (are there other hobbies)?
LOL! I was going to ask the same thing. Scrapping is my main hobby…although I do enjoy reading, playing games, and anything crafty or creative.

14.  What is the most challenging part of scrapbooking for you?
It has to be letting go…and letting good enough be good enough. I will scrap a layout…and sometimes I am satisfied and sometimes I am not…so I end up scrapping the same photos 2 or 3 times until I totally happy with it. It’s not the most construtive way to get a scrapbook finished!

15.  What would you like to learn to do (or do better) not related to scrapbooking?

Absolutely, it has to be photography. I really enjoy taking photos and constantly want to learn how to be better.

16.  Have you ever met anyone famous, and who?  If  not, who would you like to meet someday?
Sure…I’ve met  Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Bernadette Peters…just to name a few. My husband and I like to go to the theathe, and when we can, we try to meet the performers and get autographs.

17.  Describe your “scrapping” environment.  Music? TV in the background? Drinks? Snacks? Where?
Most of the time it’s clutter and chaos and lots of noisy children. LOL! But my favorite time is when it’s quiet and there’s nothing but me, the computer and a coke zero.

18.  If you only had 2 elements to use on a LO, what would they be?
Oh. that’s so hard. I love a good staple. And I really like string.

19.  Would you like to share a little known fact about you…?
Oh…I don’t know…I don’t like foods that are squishy. Especially when they have a lot of texture, like tapioca. ack.

20.  When did you start designing? What is your favorite product that you’ve designed?
I have been doing templates for quite some time and have recently started designing alphas and just recently my very first full kit. So, my favorite product has to be this new kit  … it’s a collab with Erica Zane called Eat Your Veggies. I just think it’s so fun and playful.

21.  How would you describe your design style?
I love realism…paper elements, glitter, things that have texture and depth. It’s really important to me that everything I make be scrapable!

22. Where do you get your inspiration/motivation?
I find inspiration in everything I do…my templates are based on my own layouts…these are things that I am actually scrapping…so I think they translate well.

23. Which of your kits showcases your style the most?
I’ve given you a sneak peek of my new kit, but as far as style goes, it’s all about the templates for me.

I would say that the Layers of Love Template set really embodies my scrapping style…and so my design style too.

I also design blinkies and banners and I think my own banner says a lot about who I am.

24. What is your favorite color scheme to design with?
I love bright colors. Anything fun and happy….that’s what I want to scrap with…so that’s what I want to design.

Thanks Denise for letting us get to you better. Congrats on your first kit. You can check out her shop HERE and her gallery HERE!
