We’re Still in the Process of Getting Settled In…

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Hello,

Just a quick note to let you know that there are still some kinks we are working out with our new two-server system.  The incoming shop mail is not working–andilynn, payments or customer support.  The outgoing mail seems to be working just fine, but our tech guys are still working on the incoming mail issues.  Please do not think I am ignoring you if you have written to me.  Your concerns are very important.  Continue to write, just know that it may not be received until Tuesday or Wednesday and then I will have a lot of emails to get caught up on.  Your patience at  this stressful time is appreciated more than you know.

Also there is an issue that is keeping us from logging into the shop’s administrative end.  So we are currently unable to check on problems with orders.  We are also unable to put new products into the shop. It appears that the shop software and paypal are working just fine.  I am hopeful that this problem will be resolved shortly too. The fact that this is a holiday weekend makes it a little more difficult to resolve as speedily as we like it. Your patience is appreciated.  Once the kinks are worked out our site will be able to handle all kinds of traffic without crashing, providing you an easy and hassle-free shopping experience.  Thanks again for your patience.  Andrea

7/1-Getting Hybrid

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Hi everyone! Melissa, profiler_mar here, and I am so excited to be hosting my first getting hybrid challenge! I always think it is fun to look for ways to use everyday items in different ways, or to use items we would normally just toss in the trash. So for this challenge I decided to make my own magnets! You can do this in a lot of ways, but I went with bottle cap magnets, because they are so cute! So first we will need:

*6 bottle caps
*magnetic strips that are adhesive on one side
*pop dots
*a one inch circle punch

Step 1: Create six 1-inch diameter circles, decorate with digi paper and elements, and print. I use PSE, so I selected the custom shape tool, and at the top, underneath the menu bar, I selected the shape I wanted, which was a circle. Click on the shape icon and chose “fixed size”, then enter 1 in x 1 in. When you go over to your document and click, it will drop the shape onto your page in that exact size.

Step 2: Using your circle punch, punch out the circles.

Step 3: Cut the magnets to fit the flat side of the bottle caps, and adhere them to the caps.

Step 4: Place a pop-dot inside each bottle cap.

Step 5: Adhere the circles to the pop-dots and voila, you are done!

Here are my finished magnets, using Bloomin’ Mini from Chelle’s Creations:

And here is some inspiration from our fabulous creative team!

As always, here are the guidelines for the challenges at Scrap Matters:
- Entries must be posted in the appropriate challenge gallery HERE, and come back and link us up in the challenge thread
- You will have until the end of the month (July) to complete your project
- You’ll get 1 point for designing, printing and putting together a new planner, and then posting the photo of it in the gallery. If you want some pointers about photographing your hybrid projects, see this thread HERE. You will get a bonus point if you used a new release within one week of it’s release to complete your project but you have to let me know. Plus, I’ll select one entry at random for a bonus challenge point.

There are so many different ways you can do this challenge, so I can’t wait to see what you create!
