Sunday Spotlight – sporte91

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and Day filled with joy. I don’t know about you, but it’s hard for me to believe the holidays have come to an end. Now, time to get the house put back together! Today, I’m excited to bring you a interview with sporte91.

1. Your screen name? Your real name?  sporte91 / Sarah

2. What is your main job/career?  My first job is to be Chief Home Officer. I also own a wedding and portrait photography studio that operates from our house.

3. Are you married/children/pets?  I’ve been married to Mike for almost 7 years. We have two great kids, Aaron (3) and Susannah (1), and one frog named Lily.

4. Where is home for you?  The Northwest burbs of Chicago.

5. What are your 3 favorite foods?  Chocolate, peanut butter, and ice cream. Not very healthy, I know!

6. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?  Moose Tracks!

7. Snacks…Salty or Sweet?  Definitely sweet.

8. Beverage of choice?  Most often, I’m drinking water with a splash of juice. I’m also always up for a good margarita. :-)

9. What’s your least favorite food?  Fish. Yuck!!!

10. PC or Mac? What program do you use?  I’m a PC user, working in CS2, but strongly considering a switch to Mac with my next computer purchase.

11. How long have you been digi-scrapping? How did you get started?  I’ve been designing wedding albums digitally for almost ten years now, but had no idea there was a digi-scrapping community out there. While working on a client’s album in 2007, I needed a few graphic elements to complete a page, and started searching the web. I stumbled across quite a few digi-scrapping sites, and my obsession began.

12. What was your 1st LO about? My very first pages aren’t in any gallery (I didn’t know galleries exsisted!). My friend, LeAnn, had been raving about Speed Scraps here at ScrapMatters for quite some time. We had a lunch date in the fall of ‘09, and there was a 1pm speed scrap that afternoon. We scurried to get all our kids down for naps, then she helped me get registered at ScrapMatters and figure out how to navigate the speed scrap instructions. Here’s my LO from that afternoon. I’m almost too embarrassed to show you!

13. Do you have any other hobbies besides digi-scrapping (are there other hobbies)?  Music and photography are both loves of mine.

14. What is the most challenging part of scrapbooking for you?  Balancing digi-scrapping time with family time has been a challenge for me. I enjoy the quiet, creative time so much that it’s usually the first place I go when I have a few spare minutes. This hasn’t always gone over well with my DH, so I’ve had to learn to communicate with him better about what I’m working on and how much time I’d like to spend on it. Over time, he’s come to really appreciate the memories I’m documenting in my pages, and he sees that I’m a better wife and mom when I get a little time for myself.

15. What would you like to learn to do (or do better) not related to scrapbooking?  I’m a bit domestically challenged, so keeping our home more organized is one area I’d like to improve in. I’d also love to learn to play the cello some day. Maybe when the kids are out of the house!

16. What are your favorite movies/TV shows?  Santa brought us a copy of Toy Story, and we loved watching that as a family recently. When the kiddos are asleep, The Office is another of my favorites.

17. Describe your “scrapping” environment. Music? TV in the background? Drinks? Snacks? Where?  I love to scrap in silence. The house is so busy during the day, and my desk is in the kitchen, right in the heart of it all. Once the kids are in bed, I love to settle in with my laptop for some quality quiet time. No snacks, no music, no TV. Just blessed quiet.

18. If you only had 2 elements to use on a LO, what would they be?  Papers and alphas.

19. Would you like to share a little known fact about you…? In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m friends IRL with fellow SM babes LeAnn (scaccogirl) and Rebecca (reboscraps). Rebo and I were college roomates, and LeAnn and I met in birthing class with our first babies.

20. Can you tell us a little about your scrappin’ style? I like to keep things pretty simple. I love keeping photos the main focus of my pages.

21. Favorite LOs that you have done?  Bedtime is one of my favorites because it captures such a sweet slice of life at our house.

I also love the album I created of my daughter’s birth. Giving birth at home was a profound and life-changing experience, and I’m so glad I told the story in these pages.

22. How long have you been a member at ScrapMatters?  I joined ScrapMatters in October of 2009. It’s hard to believe it’s been just over one year!

23. Do you have any suggestions for kits you’d like to see in the SM store? The SM designers are always one step ahead of my ideas. I can always find something new to add to my wish list. :-)

I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a little more about Sarah, Miss Photogenic winner from our 2010 Queen of Scrap contest. Be sure to stop by and check out Sarah’s gallery. I have no doubt you’ll find some amazing inspiration!
