Juno Designs

It seems like it has been awhile since we featured one our fabulous designers here on the blog.  The new year puts the spotlight on Juno Designs.  Juno Designs rejoined the ScrapMatters design team this fall so it was nice to get to know her during this interview.  Spend some time with me to get reacquainted with her.

“My name is Jill, I’m 28 years old and live in the Netherlands. My boyfriend Bart, who I’ve been with for a little over 3 years now, and I have been living together for 2 years. We don’t have any kids yet, but do take care of 7 furbabies (2 rabbits, 2 hamsters and 3 rats). For some reason I’ve always had a soft spot for rodents LOL I studied psychology and history in college, but due to a some unfortunate circumstances I wasn’t able to get a degree in either one of them. At the moment I don’t have a job outside of the house, so I try to dedicate as much time as possible to digital scrapbook designing. I love to read, watch movies, at home and at the cinema, and play the occasional video game on our XBox. Bart and I used to love to go hiking and geocaching, but since his recent illness we haven’t been able to do this for a while. And of course I try to squeeze in some scrapping time, but since I started designing again I haven’t had much time to scrap. I also watch a lot of TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Glee. Bart and I also love watching The Big Bang Theory together. And I’m a sucker for cooking shows. I do love to cook, but being a vegetarian it’s kinda hard to find good recipes. And with Bart being a true carnivore I always have to cook two meals, which makes cooking kind of a chore so I really prefer baking.

We usually spend our holidays with family. Christmas Eve is a night just for the 2 of us, with some gifts and some nice food. December 25th is spent with my family; my mom, her husband and my brother.  Most of the time we do a little Secret Santa thingy and have dinner together. My family lives a 2-hour drive away, so we don’t get to see each other very often. It’s nice to be able to spend some time together during the holidays. Bart’s and my family don’t go well together, so on boxing day we usually have dinner at his mother’s house with the rest of his family.

I found digital scrapbooking in 2007. Someone I knew from a non-scrapbook related forum introduced me to it and I was instantly hooked. I started out using Paint Shop Pro, but very soon found my way to Photoshop and never looked back. I loved hanging out at ScrapMatters from the start and participating in the Matter of Scrap challenges. Especially the Tuesday template challenges were a huge inspiration. I think ScrapMatters is one of the friendliest communities around. Not a single layout in the gallery goes unnoticed and gets at least one comment. I feel very honored to be a part of this wonderful family of talented scrappers and designers.

After a year of scrapping I thought it would be fun to try and make my own paper pack. Just for fun. So I did and gave it away as a freebie on my blog. I got a great response and decided I wanted to give designing a shot. In 2008 I participated in some designer contests and won a few. I joined the ScrapMatters design team soon after that. For 2 years I had a great time being a part of this amazing community, but due to some personal problems I had to take a break from designing. I’m so happy to be back designing at my favorite place in digi-town. You might be wondering how I came up with my designer name. Well back in 2007 I had to come up with a forum username to use in the scrapping forums and galleries. At the time I was still in college and kind of a history geek. Don’t ask me why, but I wanted my username to begin with the same letter as my real name. So I came up with Juno, an ancient Roman goddess, the protector and special counselor of the state, the Roman equivalent is the goddess Hera. When I started designing I just added “Designs” to it and Juno Designs was born.”

Here are a few layouts made with Jill’s designs. I chose this first one that Jill scrapped herself using her beautiful Christmas kit Season of Joy.

Next up is this gorgeous layout using Jill’s Count Your Blessings

Last up is a layout made with Jill’s exclusive free with purchase kit I Resolve
