Grand Theft Layout 12/09 – Melody

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Hey all – this is Amber {aka Stolen Moments} and holy moly -  I am SO excited to be hosting this challenge!  I have oodles and oodles of pages from all you talented scrappers stored up in my favorites just waiting to be lifted, so now is the perfect opportunity to clear away the dust and see what pretties I can play with..   This time around, I chose a gal whose pages have been taking the gallery by storm!  Enter Melody.  Her gallery is just FULL of wonderful pages to be inspired by – if you don’t believe me, check out these pages from me and the CT..

Her’s…

Mine…

Jamie aka alansrock lifted this page…

…and ended up with this…

Courtney aka cnscrap lifted this one…

…and turned it into this…

Christine aka alamama lifted this beauty…

…to create this showstopper…

And Lori aka loribear chose this stunner…

for her inspiration on this layout…

You’ll notice Melody has quite a lot of HYBRID pieces in her gallery as well.. Feel free to lift those, if you like, as well!  You can lift a hybrid item and make it digital and visa versa, or lift a hybrid and do a hybrid.  Just use her great inspiration to design something spectacular!

Once you’ve completed your LO, upload it to the Grand Theft Layout Gallery, and be sure to link us up in the forum so we can leave you LOTS of love.. :D

A few reminders:

* You will receive one point for your entry
* You will receive one extra point for using a NEW product within the first week of its release – PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THIS IN YOUR POST
* You have until the end of December to complete your layout
* No double dipping – please keep your layouts unique to each challenge
* HAVE FUN!

And don’t forget to leave Melody some love as you’re browsing – I’m sure she’ll really appreciate it!

Photography: Looking for Inspiration

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Hello there!

Maria here, with some random thoughts about inspiration and taking pictures.

Today we are going to browse through couple of photo galleries from all over the world and get some awesome ideas to try!

First of all, I would like to introduce you one of my favorite russian photographers – Tanya Garanina. It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand Russian, just browse her blog to find some amazing shots!

She finds extraordinary angles and discovers beauty everywhere.

Here’s another link for you:  this photographer is from Moldova.  Sergiu Barancean is not a professional photographer, but his pictures amaze me!  Just look at these minimalistic landscapes:

I can feel the still air of an early morning by the river, can’t you?

And the last but not the least link for today takes us to the fairy tale of Indonesian forests.  Rarindra Prakarsa creates perfect scenes with fantastic colors and ideal composition.  Just look at this “Ordinary morning”.  I wish I could have one of those!

I hope you found your inspiration today!  Now grab your cameras and click!

If you have other favorite galleries, don’t forget to share!

Hugs,

Maria

What’s in a title?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I don’t know about you guys, but I have the hardest time titling my pages (and even my kits now!). I can sit four hours fiddling with different titles, fonts and alphas or anything to put on my page. There have even been a few times that I just gave up and didn’t title a page (bad Daysh!). I even get lazy now and just call my sister up and make her come up with titles for me. So today (a little late….) I just wanted to talk to you a little bit about titling your pages and ideas for coming up with title ideas.

My first suggestion is to look at the theme of your page. Are there any individual words that come to mind? Any adjectives that seem to be perfect. There is this site that has a HUGE list of adjectives that are perfect for titles: http://www.esldesk.com/vocabulary/adjectives.htm They are even alphabetized to help you search through them if you are looking for a particular word that starts with an ‘a’ for example.
For example there is this page. We were at the wild animal park and the word “wild” just seemed very fitting.

My next suggestion to you would be to do as Lina suggested in her last Words for Wednesday Challenge- find a song title or lyrics to a song that would work. Music is so powerful and so are the words (usually… ;)

These lyrics ended up being so perfect for this page, and I was so excited how well they fit and how little efford I had to put into finding a title. ;)

My last suggestion is to find a quote. This site www.thinkexist.com is the perfect place to find TONZ of quotes- any theme you could be looking for. You just type in a search word and it brings up loads of different quotes from different people! It’s so wonderful.

Hopefully this has helped a little bit and will help you as you all try to title your pages.
