Roadmap to Scrap

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I have not hosted a non-hybrid challenge since August! My style tends to lean to the simplistic side of the spectrum. I also either tend to use just one photo (don’t like to waste space) or lots of photos (to help tell the whole story – afterall I took the photo for a reason – didn’t I ).

Today we are going on a simple journey, I hope you will join me! Simply follow the 8 steps to a fabulous page.

1. Use only new items that you have not scrapped with before.
2. Use 3 peices of paper – one of which should be patterned.
3. Add at least one row of stitches.
4. Use no more than 2 pictures (you can cut the pictures up as much as you want though – but remember we are taking a simplistic journey today).
5. Include an element of nature. You can use as many other elements on your page as you want but remember to keep it simple.
6. Be sure to tell the story. Have at least 3 lines of journaling.
7. Title your page in an unusual way, date if you like.
8. Add fabulous shadows and your finishing touches.

This is what I came up with following my directions. Love the final destination. This uses:
Dandilion Wishes from Jenn Barrette
Get Real – Realistic Drop Shadow Styles from Jenn Barrette
Fonts: Pea Paula Pepin and Pea Kiley

And here is what some of our CT has come up with… Fabulous stuff!!!

Here are the rules:

*You have until the end of March to post your entry. Be sure to post it to the “Roadmap to Scrap” gallery and link it back to the thread in the forum.

*No double-dipping! This challenge CANNOT be combined with any other ScrapMatters challenge or Speed Scrap. Your layout must be unique to this challenge.

*You can earn an extra point for using any new Scrap Matters product during the first week of its release. Be sure to note the new product in your layout description and your post in the thread on the forum. In order to get your bonus point, it does need to be noted on your forum post.

*You don’t have to use Scrap Matters products, but we love it when you do!

*I will draw one random person for an extra point, at the end of the month.

Roadmap to Scrap Jan. 21, 2009

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Hey all! Haynay (heather) here to bring you this week’s Roadmap to Scrap!

1. Choose a template–but, you have to rotate or flip it from its original position.
2. Choose pictures–enough to fit your template. I need ONE photo to be up close!
3. Must use black, white, or brown as your background paper.
4. Use as many solid and/or patterned papers as you want, but they MUST be monochromatic!
5. Use circles and add stitching of some sort to at least one of them.
6. Add some glitter on something.
7. Work on some fabulous shadows!
8. Use word art at your title…and date/journal! (you don’t have to journal if you don’t want to!)

In order to reach our final destination, we MUST have all 8 things in our layout. You can of course do more than these 8 things…and the rules are open to interpretation. Be creative, for example, if you use something that meeting more than one requirement, lucky you!

You will have ALL month to scrap your layout, and when you complete it, you MUST post it to the “RoadMap to Scrap” Challenge Gallery AND in the forum here to get credit.

Your completed layout will earn you one point in the Matter of Scrap Challenge System.

In addition, you can earn another point by using a newly released product (you must scrap and upload your layout within the first 7 days of the products release – and remember, you MUST indicate in your post here in the forum that you used a new release).

Hi all, here’s Monique (monsu) with our first roadmap of the new year! I hope my directions will inspire a fun trip and a great destination!

1.    Choose a template
2.    Add black and white or sepia photo(s)
3.    Use a solid background and as many patterned papers as you like
4.    Blend an embellishment or use a brush
5.    Use a handwriting font to add a quote; you can search for an appropriate one here:
quotegarden
inspirationpeak
6.    Repeat an embellishment at least twice
7.    Combine different fonts to add your title, no Alpha’s this time!
8.   Add a date and journaling as you wish to finish your page!

Here’s the page that inspired me to these directions, using JenLin Designs’ Jenny Jo Kit, on sale now and for one more week only!!

And here’s some more inspiration from our fabulous CT:

Christine (Alamama) used Erica Zane’s Falling Dusk and a Template by Britt-ish Designs

Andrea (Chia) used Dirty Feet Designs template–White Space Vol. 2, Sya’s Blueprint’s kit–All Loved Up, Fluffy Bunny Feet’s frame set–I’ve Been Framed, Erica Zane’s flower from–Woodland Fantasy

Mary (Littlehiccup) used GG Digital Designs Believe in the Magic, Inspired by Kelsey Templates by Britt-ish Designs, and Hustle and Bustle by Britt-ish Designs

Melanie (Melanie3boys) used As Time Goes By, Simply Sweet Designs and Triple Threat 3 Template Set by Sya’s Blueprints

Now these are the rules:

In order to reach our destination, we MUST have all 8 things in our layout. You can of course do more than these 8 things…and the rules are open to interpretation. Be creative, for example, if you use something that meeting more than one requirement, that’s just fine!
You will have ALL this month to scrap your layout, and when you complete it, you MUST post it to the “RoadMap to Scrap” Challenge Gallery AND in this forum thread to get credit.
Your completed layout will earn you one point in the Matter of Scrap Challenge System.
In addition, you can earn another point by using a newly released product (you must scrap and upload your layout within the first 7 days of the products release – and remember, you MUST indicate that you used a new release). And finally, if I pick your layout as my favourite, you’ve earned one more pint!
Remember, no double dipping…your layout must be unique to this challenge.

Can’t wait to see where these directions take YOU!! Have fun!
